Hardest Day

So today I dropped Eli off for his first day of daycare...
and it has definately been one of the hardest things I have ever done... close behind giving birth to an over 9 lb baby:)

I have been in tears all morning but as lunch approaches, I am becoming calmer. I already called to check on him and of course he's fine:) It's always the Mamas that are worse off... My day was made a little easier when I got some flowers delivered from Josh.. As of now, I am trying not to talk about it...it only makes my eyes well up:(

In my hysteria I did manage to remember to document Eli's first day... here are some pics

I remember those "first" days and the days that they would hang on to me and cry when I dropped them off at daycare. I would cry all the way to work only to find out they were fine as soon as I was out the door. I miss Eli, but I know he will do fine, and you will too eventually.

awwww... chuck was just asking me if i talked to you today to see how Eli did on his first day (and to see how you did). since it is after 10:00pm there, i decided i would wait until tomorrow. i am glad you posted. i have not ever been sad about dropping my boys off at nursery or at the sitter's house (because i know i'll see them again in a little bit & usually welcome the break), but it made my eyes well up a little to hear about how sad you were today. hope you feel better about it tomorrow.

I just want to go on the record and said that i never cried when my mom dropped me off at daycare. I don't care what the top post says. Just so the record is straight now.

I never cried when I dropped the kids off - but of course they've only been to Mother's Morning Out at church a couple of days a week. I was a little weepy the first time I dropped Daniel off at "big school" for preschool for the first time because it was the first time I was leaving him with people I really didn't know. I'm sure it'll get easier for you.

Doing what's best for our kids is always hardest on the parents.
I'm sure you felt better when he gave you that smile as you walked in the door (just like at home).
Just wait until he can tell you all the "exciting things that happened today at daycare".
I miss my little ELI DARLING!

I can only imagine how you feel Nikki. Just remember, it's much harder on you than it is on him, and it the daycare looks like a great place. Nice and clean, and I didn't see any exposed electrical lines or rabid dogs lurking in dark corners. :) And what a great social opportunity for him!!! Hang in there, it will get easier each day.

It does get easier, especially when you realize how much fun he is having. Good luck the rest of the week - I hope it goes well.
