Weekend in North Carolina

This last weekend we took a tript to North Carolina to visit Josh's parents and we had a great time. On Sunday night we went on a tour of the Biltmore House in Asheville. I was a little stressed on how Eli would do through the tour but he was great. I was very proud.. Here are a few picks from the weekend.

It's about time

I feel horrible that it has taken me this long to post Eli's birthday pics. . I had great intentions on posting one of his pics from the hospital on his birthday morning but he woke up with a 102 fever that day and was sick the entire Thanksgiving weekend so I am just now getting to it.

On Wednesday November 22, 2005 all 9 pound, 6 ounces of Elijah Finley Puckett was born.





The Saturday after Thanksgiving, we had a birthday party at our house. We had so much family there, I felt so blessed and actually teared up when we sang happy birthday. I can't believe my baby is one year old.

Following Quinn's footsteps

Last week, in honor of Eli's birthday, we went to a salon to get his haircut and boy was it cut. It looks great but I was not prepared for how much was coming off. But it is so much easier to fix now and he looks great. Here are the pics

I decided to post the page of the newspaper with Eli's picture from Sunday so those who don't live here can see what it looked like too. He was a pretty good model although he wouldn't really look at the books for very long. At home, his books will entertain him for an hour but I guess in the studio he had alot more interesting stuff to get into so he had a hard time concentrating:)

So this morning, Eli got to be in a photo shoot for the paper for a story on children's books. I had to take the pictures so after the shoot, I decided to take advatage of the studio and take some pics of my own. This is one of Eli and his "lovey," which he never lets go of practically and it turned out to be maybe my favorite picture of Eli so far:)

Hunka, Hunka Burning Love

When Eli was little when we would brush his hair, Josh and I used to think he had Elvis hair so that was his Halloween costume...Plus, they have the same initials, which we put on the suit. Most of all, I was very proud that I made the costume myself. Even though I have a very crafty Mom.

I've never been crazy about Halloween but this year it was so much fun. First, on Saturday my brother and sister-in-law threw a party at their house and we had a great time.

My dad has the nickname "Queenie" for Christy so that's what she was dressed as.

Then, on Tuesday we got to trick or treat with our friends Will and Kelley Hammock and their children Bryn(AKA Snow White) and Dylan(Clown) through their neighborhood

Cousin visit

Two weekends ago, we had a great visit with the Scoggins and I took so many pictures that I have been putting off posting them because of the time it would take. Pumpkin patch

Last weekend, we finally found a little time to go to the pumpkin patch. Luckily the Methodist church in downtown Buford was having one so we could walk to it and back home. Josh, Becky and I took Quinn and Eli with us (Trip was napping). Here are the pics. Eli hates the baby backpack but Quinn loved being carried by his uncle Josh.

10-month photos

These are pictures I took for Eli's 10-month photos. We did the outside thing because I am running out of places for these monthly portraits. More posts later this week from the awesome weekend we had:)

Eli walking 1

He's been taking little steps for about a month and everyone keeps asking if he is walking. I have been saying no because it was very unstable and, to be honest, I am trying to keep him little as long as possible. Anyway, last week he became very independent and now I say he is officially walking:)

The Playground

This weekend while Josh was in New Jersey at a family wedding, Eli and I traveled to Chattanooga for my grandmother's 80th birthday party. When I got ready to post some pictures, I realized while I was busy documenting Eli's first time playing at the playground I forgot to actually take pictures of my grandmother or her party. Oh well, the rest of the family has photos thankfully. These are of Eli playing at the park, which is kinda cool because this is the park I played on as a kid, also:)

9-month photos

I have had these photos for a while and most of the family has seen them, but I didn't have any other posts so I thought I would put these up. I had these done at JCPenney and Eli did really well. I was very happy with them. This is only four of the many poses:) Please ignore if the color looks funky. My scanner at work is not very good and I didn't have time to fix it.

Duluth Fall Festival

Last weekend, Gram and Grandpap came to visit and we all went to the Duluth Fall Festival on Saturday. The weather is so awesome and we had a nice time. Here are some pics from our weekend.

New video

Though it took him quite a while to figure it out, Eli has a new fascination with clapping. He started last weekend and now does it nonstop, especially when he has done something he is proud of. So I thought I would post this video of his new talent.

BTW: You will notice in the video he seems to be chewing on something, which I also noticed when I was shooting this... I soon discovered he had decided to eat a huge piece of bark from the ground.

The pressure of a name

I thought I would post another picture-less entry. I still can't find my camera:(

Anyway, as most of my friends know, I have a fascination with baby names. Even though, we are very, very, very (is that enough?) far from having another baby, I love to keep up with what people name their children and I found the coolest website. It's called Baby Name Wizard and it links to a blog by the author of the book.

It's a study of names and why some are popular and what will be popular in the next few years, etc.. If anyone else enjoys this, it's really great reading.

Of course, this is a serious scientific study that makes me feel a little guilty that Josh and I just picked a name we liked:)

Fever and a rash

Well, I hadn't posted in a while so I thought I would rant about the reallly boring things going on in our lives.

Apparently, Eli has mastered catching viruses that result in a fever and a rash. Three weeks ago, he had a horrible fever one day that went away later in the day and then the next day broke out with a rash all over his legs.. He had "hand, foot and mouth disease" and was out of daycare for a week.

This week he had another horrible fever that the doctor determined (over the phone, which I think is weird) was Roseola, another virus that would result in a rash. No rash has popped up yet but I am just waiting. He seemed 100% yesterday and today so I don't know if his fever was just a fluke or if he will just be lucky and not have a rash.

Can a baby run a 102 fever when they are teething? I haven't seen any teeth yet, but.....

Overall, minus a couple of runny noses, I feel like these are both very minor sicknesses to what he could catch...ESPECIALLY since he is at daycare. I wanted to post them for all the Moms to read about just to keep us all informed. For any one who doesn't know ( though I am sure most of you Moms know) with both Roseola and HFM disease, there wasn't any treatment or medicine so they just have to get over them and the fever only lasted a day so....

I feel like as a first time Mom I am learning something new every day:) Plus, since my kid is in daycare and will probably catch everything there is to catch, I felt like I should share my knowledge with all the other Moms in our blog circle:)

Today is Eli's 9-month birthday so I thought I would post something although nothing new is really going on.... I thought this video was funny:)

Taylor

About a month ago, my friend Lauriann came into town for her niece Lyric's baptism and Josh and I were graciously invited to visit with the Cotters. Anyway, I finally got the pictures back of Taylor (unfortunately, Lyric was napping most of the afternoon) and wanted to post to show what a beautiful little girl she is.
